I am in the process of replacing my front wheel bearing on a '98 GTI VR6.  I
have the steering knuckle almost off, but I can't get the drive axle out of the
hub.  Is there a trick to this?  Does it need to be pressed out?  Should it
slide out? (the article in Library makes it sound like the axle should slide
ride out of the hub w/ minimal effort!).

out. with the driveshaft nut on loosely it should prevent your hammer from

I have used a gear puller in the past...it made short work of the deal....
