They suck.  If you care about dust, don't get these Ferodos.

BTW, Ferodos come in many different types, and unfortunately,
I can't give you the exact type of Ferodo I was using.  But the
guys at Velocity Sport Tuning will know...

I guess the Mintex Redbox pads are the way to go for dustless
braking.

How are they in regards to dust reduction?

Terrible.  They are just as bad as the stock pads.

The plus side is they brake like you wouldn't believe, and have *fantastic*
pedal feel.  I had a set of the 3466 Street/Competition pads on my last GTI
and absolutely loved them.  The were fine in the cold and unbelievable when
they were hot.
For anyone who remembers, two sets of Ferodo pads were tested in EC over a
year ago along with other popular aftermarket pads.  The standard street
Ferodo pad came out # 1 and the street competition pad came out #2 .

For normal street driving and autocrossing I think the standard Ferodo pad
would be more than adequate.  The more agressive 3466 pad, took a little
time to heat up before the "feel" got awesome.  That was my only complaint,
other than the brake dust.

Braking distances (as reported by EC) were almost identical over six 60-0
stops with both Ferodo pads.  So I don't think there is a real reason to go
with the more expensive/higher performance pads, unless you really plan to
beat on you brakes.

That's my $.02.

I too have street Ferodos on my GLX. They have been in for over 50K miles
and the brake sensor was still able to be used. They work fine when cold or
whenever, though IMHO they are just slightly dustier than stock, counter to
what EC said in project GLX. Later-G

The man speaks from experience.  Just after bedding in my pads, the wheels
were coated in black dust.  But... It's awsome!  Metal Master, Mintex
(regular), KVR house brand all doesn't have the initial BITE and tends to
fade a bit.  If 4 years, the most I got from a set of pads were <12K miles,
due to their suckyness.  I've tried too many brands...

I have the Ferodo pads.  They are dirty as hell after one day of driving.
I have an optimized brake system with dor 4 brake fluid, stainless steel
lines and crossdrilled rotors.  Going to the Ferodo pads DID NOT yield a 20
feet increase.  That's from real world experience with 17" BBS RC's and
Potenza SO2's.   They have a soft initial bite, but stops like a champ.  I
initially put off the dust issue, but living with it for 6 months, it's
just too much work wiping the wheels everyother day...
