I'm not sure the TSB number, but here are the part numbers for the "kit"
they installed to keep the spring from falling out:

1HM419555D VW Plate
1HM419044A VW Buffer

Additionally, on the invoice there were two other numbers but I don't know
if they are relevant: 3006510 and 3006660001. These were next to the
description of the work (Modify Mounting Bracket).

Hope this helps,
Tom

Hey everyone, I just got back from being in Europe for the past couple of
weeks on my honeymoon. Anyways, before I left I picked up my car from the
body shop and didn't have a chance to really drive the car a whole lot, but I
did notice a clunky feel when depressing the clutch pedal, but the clutch
seemed to be engaging and disengaging fine. Yesturday I took the cover under
the dash off, the one that covers the area around the pedals. I found above
the clutch pedal area a big spring attached to a white plastic piece loose in
the space above the pedal. I removed it, this was difficult since that area
is very tight to get your hands in. The clutch seems to be working the same,
but I'm wondering if it is safe to drive the car without it, does anyone know
what I am talking about? I think that maybe the accident knocked this spring
out of its place, I'm going to take the car to the dealer to have it
reinstalled, I'm assuming that it is an additional return spring for the
clutch pedal because the resistence of the pedal doesn't feel like it used to,

I think the clutch is fine but what to have the spring put back. Can anyone
shed some light on my predicament?

Sincerely,
Joe Silva

I had my Clutch Return Spring fall out while I was driving 3 times before
the dealer got it right. It is OK to drive but not for too long. They
will put in a "custom bracket" and it should fix it for good. Mine is a 98
