How soon we forget. Let it be known that Bilstein is the almighty!
They ARE adjustable! The trick is, they adjust themselves according to the
rate of acceleration. Take it from someone who has replaced lots of leaking
Koni's (under warranty) on many Porsche cars. Bilsteins had a significantly
lower leakage rate. This is from 25 years of servicing these vehicles. My 85
Golf has a set of Bilstein sports that have over 120k miles on them and they
are just starting to show a little (maybe 15% softening) They have been on 2
cars and used through 4 years of abuse road racing. My alignment didn't even
change after a few 100mph off course excursions. I will probably put the
same set on my next A2 daily driver. They are probably the only upgrade that
will outlast the car. Granted, the car only weighs 2010 lbs, but this still
is impressive for a street shock. My 97 DE will be blessed with them soon.
