Subject: [gti-vr6] [GTI-VR6] Problem with H&R springs.

This weekend I installed a set of H&R lowering springs with my stock
shocks. I noticed that the top coil on the front H&R was a little
larger than that of the front stock spring. Sure enough, last night one
of the front springs came off the upper perch. It did not cause any
damage, just makes a scraping noise. Has anyone had this problem
before?? Is there a larger upper spring perch available?? Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks
Josh Prince

Sounds like you got the wrong springs. Either you got a set for the early 4
cyl (#54764) or a Corrado SLC set (#54707). You should have gotten #54748.
One easy way to fix the problem is to use the Corrado upper spring perches:
1H0 412 341, $8.50ea. Definitely fix the problem. The springs are now
rubbing on the inner fender and will cause pretty serious damage over a while.
BTW, our H&R Spring special ends soon. We'll be replacing it with a brake
special: Brembo x-drilled, ATE Power Rotors, Mintex pads, stainless lines,
etc. Watch the webpage.

Todd
