I've been treated great at Imports by Day in Monroeville, PA
(outskirts of Pittsburgh). Their service department is fantastic.

FWIW.

Sunnyvale Volkswagen, Sunnyvale, CA. They sell NEW VW's that have been pre
modded by ND. Body kits, full suspension, chips, stress bars, the whole
Monty. They even have their own stock numbers for the pre modded cars.
Now THAT'S cool.

Autohaus Tischer in Laurel, MD is the best in this area. Sales rep Larry
Hoines was the best I dealt with out of 5 dealerships in MD/VA. Got me
exactly what I wanted, no pressure- he even sends monthly "affirmation"
letters thanking me for the sale(and of course for good referrals). I
even get a birthday card every year(2 so far). Tischer's service dept is
even better. After leaving the oil cap off the engine after my 5k
service(good thing I checked before i drove home)- they apologized up
one side and down the other, giving me free oil changes and free stuff
from the VW catalogue. Anything to keep me coming back, and I will. They
treat you right. BTW, no problems with service even after all the mods
I've done.

Hmmm... Anyone have any expierence with Martens VW in Washington DC?
I bought my car at Fairfax VW.. I don't like very much anymore.. They
never really did anything bad (except not fix my heat shield rattling
problem very well) but I just don't like the McDonalds'esque service.
Martens is about 7 minutes from my house.. But I would consider going to
Tischer (below) if it is that good...

Thanks!
adam

If this is a go, I could (if EVERYONE sends me the info) throw something
together and skip it over to Andy to post in the library. Just a
thought and offering my services.

The Autobarn of Mt. Prospect, Illinois in conjunction with Race Partners
of Long Grove, Illinois will mod cars as far as you want to go without
giving you crap about warranties. Expect to see both at this years
Mid-West Treffen in August.

Hey, anyone that wants to buy a car from Tischer in MD soon, let me know
first. If I refer you to Larry, I get $100 which I'll split with you
50/50!

In order for me to do a fully half-assed job, when replying could you
include the following info about the dealership in question:

Name (that would be nice)
Address (or at least City, State)
Phone number
Contact person (if any, is always a plus)

also a brief description of some of the services/mods they are
"friendly" to.

later

Thanks for the info, folks.. Unfortunately, I have to go to Fairfax VW to
get
my next 20,000 mile checkup. Anybody out there know how these guys
are for service? I was extremely put off by a salesman and head honcho
there (test drove a TDI just to check out the engine - if they had given us
the 115 hp, TDI GTI, I'd be interested, but VW won't in the U.S.). I
definitely
would never buy something from them.

Jud.

Took the GTI back to Devon Hill BMW /VW in Devon Pa for the 5K service.
Oil change and rotate tires. Service Manager Adrian asked me how I
liked my suspension H&R's Bilstiens (Air & Water Install). He Said the
car looked much better lowered. They also couldn't miss the front upper
stress bar. No way they could tell the car had the G Chip V.11 I was
there 25 minutes and looked at the 99 GTI (no VR6) the had on the lot.
Adrian said he would see me at 10K for the next oil change, by then the
car will have 268's installed, already talked to Todd.
