Hopefully, the Schrick VG intake manifold will regain the lost low end.
In addition, the Schrick 268 cams along with Garrett's 268 cam chip will
also aid the letharginess of the VR6 down low.  You can purchase a
Supersprint exhaust system from Denon Performance Products (888)
468-0688.  I was told a few days ago that they carry Supersprint exhaust
systems and Supersprint headers for VR6 engined vehicles.  The EXC
web-site simply has not been updated recently and does not list the 2
1/2" versions of the Scorpion exhaust systems.  I was told by EXC that
the 2 1/2" Scorpion exhaust systems for GTi-VR6's cost $649.95.

No. Ansa was importing them and selling them. In addition now BMP is
selling them.

As for the need for a 2 1/2 " system I can see no reason for any
thing bigger than 2 1/4 " unless you go to a 3.0 even then it may not
make any difference except in the higher rpm range with a lost in
the bottom end. We have tested so many of our systems and the gains
seem to be pretty consistent. The cat outlet pipe is 2 1/4" also so
unless you find a 2 1/2" outlet cat you still have that restriction.
I have not tested a 2 1/2 " system but have had a third party test it
against ours and it made no more power.

Our system has used Borla mufflers from the beginning as our turbo
systems used the same from way back in 1991. Callaway used Borla
also.

Just any FYI, I called ANSA recently in Georgia to inquire about the
Supersprint exhaust for the GTI, telling them I got the info out of an
ad in MotorTrend. I was informed they no longer carry Supersprint and
the owner could give me no advice about who does.
Reason I bring this up is that this is discussed in the list archives.

Supersprint is now carried by BMP motorsports, a BMW tuner/parts
dealer.  I too would like to get the Supersprint, I just haven't heard
of anyone stateside getting one for their VR6.  Anyone? Anyone???  These
systems are supposed to be some of the best, but they are multissimo $$$
since they are hand-made in Italy.

I've got a number for BMP Design (800)-648-7278
I called and inquired about the SS system. It's essentially a muffler,
with the optional DTM tips. That's it. For a Catback, add a straight
pipe, with or without a resonator (your choice), and the muffler. He
said the only difference with the catback is loudness. It's louder with
it. No additional performance gain. With the stock suitcase off, there'd
be no need for the catback, unless you want to upgrade the cheap stock
exhaust material to stainless steel. The cost for the muffler with DTM
tips is $390 +S&H. The Catback pipe is an additional $68.55. Stock
diameter.

Notice to coneheads: According to CFI, The Tire Rack is back-ordered
on BFG R1's in 205/50/15.  They said it could be three weeks until
they're shipping again.  I didn't call to confirm, nor did I check
with Team T/A (1-800-RACE-BFG) to see if they have a stash to sell.
If you plan on taking the McKamey School or cording a set of 205's
in the next few weeks, this is something to keep in mind.  On the
bright side, I got two 215/50/15's mounted to replace my flat-spotted
front tires from last weekend.  They look good on the rims, and I'm
crossing my fingers that they will fit.  If we weren't having a
nor'easter right now, I would know already. :-(

Oh yeah, CFI has a VR6 Brospeed exhaust header hanging on the wall,
and just became a Supersprint dealer.  They've also got a lot of
Bonrath stuff in.  That place never ceases to amaze me.....

Here's the info I have on Supersprint. The distributor here in the U.S.
is BMP Designs, a BMW shop in Tyler TX. Their URL is http://www.bmpd.com/
and their phone is 1-800-648-7278. The Cat Back system for the VR6 is as
follows: pipe w/ SS resonator ~$185, w/o resonator $68. SS Muffler w/
round tips: ~$335, w/oval tips ~$365, w/DTM tips ~$395. This is the
setup they recommended to me on the phone (my choice of tips of course).
The complete header kit runs something like ~$900.
You better call them for specific answers to your questions. My ideal
setup is the res. + DTM tip, which'll run close to $600. This is toward
the top of my "I want to mod my car with this" list.

resonated and not resonated?  Will it violate any sound laws?  Does it
give you headaches on longtrips?  Could it set off car alarms.  I like
what i have heard about supersprint and want to get one of their
systems.  I am debating stock or racing.  Any opinions?

I ordered mine about a week ago from Momentum Motorsports
(www.momentummotor.com).  After doing much research on exhausts I decided to
go with reputation and quality instead of value and popularity.
Supersprint comes highly recommended from a lot of people, you just don't
see it much on VW's, we are sort of the "poor man's Beemer" if you think
about it.

The round tip exhausts are discontinued I heard from 2 places, maybe there
are a few more around somewhere???  I wanted them b/c they were close to
stock (DTM's prevailed in the end).  BMP is the main distributor - they
didn't' have any, neither did Bart's Autowerks in Baltimore.  Momentum in
British Columbia had what I wanted at the time.  The owner, Shawn Van Neer,
told me that he didn't have any but knew a "place" to get them for a slight
"middle man increase".

The total for the over-axle pipe and DTM exhaust was just
Over US$580.  That's with tax, shipping and the increase.  The prices listed
above are very accurate and will probably apply wherever you shop.  Everyone
I talked to said the next shipment of systems wont' be until May 26 b/c they
are imported from Italy.   The ONLY thing is Momentum doesn't accept credit
cards !?!, so I had to snail mail (uggghhh...) my check and order to him in
BC from the Philly area.   I say, it's worth the wait.

I'll let yall know how it sounds, I'll post wav files of before/after on my
upcoming website.

I don't think that the cylindrical resonator after the cat is any real
restriction so I got the mid pipe back system. (2 piece)

IIRC, there is only one muffler for the VR6 with the dual round magnum tips
and they are 90mm. The part number for that muffler is #885726. The axle pipe
with resonator is #885703, or if you want a plain axle pipe the # is 886213. I
used CFI Motorsports and was given really fair prices and low shipping costs.
