One of our more successful products over the years has been our Lowered CR
SS head spacers for the 12v VR6 equipped cars.
Stock CR of the MKIII VR6 12v car is 10.0:1
Stock CR of the MKIV VR6 12v car is 10.5:1
The MKIII VR6 was supplied using a "fiber" one piece gasket, whereas the
MKIV was supplied with a 3-layer metallic gasket; the outer two layers
consisting of a "crush" gasket.
We utilized the MKIV gasket for it's metal crush-ability, and paired it with
our SS laser cut spacers: 10:1, 9:1 and 8.5:1
10 for motors running lowered CR pistons, but wanting the reliability of an
all-metal gasket without raising compression (if they were to use the MKIV
gasket with it's overall thickness, they would be negating the application
of lowered CR pistons by raising the CR by 0.5 pts.
I am sure that everyone by now is saying, Okay Chris we know where to buy SS
gaskets if we need them, now how about answering the question ;)
The answer is that the MKIV 12v metal gasket is the same configuration
layout as the MKIII 12v gasket.....they both utilize the exact same block
and head, only the CR is raised.
Hope that helps.....
