OK, so i noticed yesterday that something was squeeking under my hood, but only 
at idle (when my clutch is in at a light, or neutral, 800 rpms basically) and, 
i guessed it was my serpintine belt. Is there anything i can put on it, tighten 
it, or whatever, to get rid of that annoying squeek? it is really starting to 
get on my nerves, because i know when i see some car that makes some obnoxious 
and unhealthy noise, i think poorly of the driver (eg- most american cars from 
the 80s) Any help would be appreciated!

Brendan,
More than likely it's not your belt squeaking..it's probably
the tensioner pulley, chronic prob. on the VR6.  This is a
high dollar dealer item.  Luckly there is an alternative replacement.

My tensioner was squealing like a banshee. I removed the pulley
from the tensioner, removed the rubber bearing seals, put a good
amount of high temperature wheel bearing grease inside, replaced the
rubber seals (make sure they are seated completely or they will work
themselves loose) and reinstalled the pulley on the tensioner. It's
been as quiet as new ever since. (It's the original tensioner and
it has 130,000 miles on it). This is on an A4 VR6 and I don't know
if earlier VR6 tensioners were different. I'd give this a try before
dropping any $$$ on an Adrenalin pulley or another OEM. It could save
you a bunch of cash.
