You could try but I think it might be a major hassle.. unless they can track the problem
down to the wires.  Your starting problems could be ECU-related, as others with late
'97's have experienced here.  What's your born-on date?  (Check driver's side door
jamb).  Mine's very early, 8/96, and did not have the start-up problems (also has red
wires..).  Also I have heard that the red wires aren't necessarily any great upgrade from
the black ones anyways.  Might be time for some aftermarket wires..

hey Kev,

      mine has the same born-on-date as yours , 96/8. I don't think it's
the ECU problems since the dealer replaced a chip in my ECU already, and
the problem still remains. btw, those idiots kept my car for 3 weeks
and still couldn't figure out how to solve the rough idle problem... i
guess I am almost hopeless now :-(

anyone with any idea of what else might be causing this problem? ( pls
speak up if u know of something, coz I am gonna print this out to the
dealer if this is gonna help )

Is a difference in the smoothness of start-up (seems like it takes longer to
actually start) and a rough idle symptoms of a bad coil pack??   I had my
engine replaced at 12,000 due to hydrolock.  I now have 68,000 and ever since
the replacement I have had a rough idle and it has always taken longer to
start-up.  I took it to the dealer many times and they could never find the
problem......

I have also had a misfire and rough idle until the engine was fully warmed up
in wet weather which has since been fixed since I replaced a spark plug wire
which had a cut in it.  I continue to have the rough idle and "un-smooth"
start-up.  Any suggestions would be great.  Please respond privately as well.
