Dave's right,

I've been running a custom set of 266 regrinds w/ .441" lift (11.2mm) vs. Schrick
268s .452" (11.5mm) for ~3 months, revved hard and drag raced many times and have
had none, zero, zilch problems......as a matter of fact, when I started the car for
the first time after the cam install, the lifters pumped up almost immediately!
We've corresponded w/ Todd as well as Colin @ TT and the concensus seems to be that
you don't NEED HD valve springs unless you over-rev the motor...i.e. downshifting
from 5th to 2nd or 4th to 1st.....one interesting thing about going to heavier rate
springs is that you can actually wear your lifters and cam lobes a little more
quickly than with your stock springs...more force = more friction = greater wear.

Oh, and about the lifters, my cams were installed w/ ~55K on my odometer and my
lifters looked fine....unless you've got more miles on your car, I wouldn't worry
about those either.

Good luck,
/alf/

I've never heard of ANYONE having problems with 268s and/or intake on a VR6.
I've personally know 4 people who have/had them, they've never had problems.
