I'm considering 3 different gauges for my car this summer . . . oil
pressure, oil temp, and volts.
I'm guessing that a 300*F oil temp gauge should suffice (vs. a 320*F
gauge). However, I have no idea what normal oil pressure is for
a VR6. www.egauges.com lists several choices (80, 100, & 150psi).
Which pressure range is adequate? They only list one voltmeter,
so I'll go with that -- easy choice. :)
Will an electrical version of each gauge work well (i.e.,
vs. mechanical)? The voltmeter is electrical only.
They have universal wiring kits for ~12 each (1 kit for each gauge).
I just need to figure out what type of sender I'll need for the temp
and pressure, which is dictated by what "normal" temp and pressure
readings are (i.e., ~220*F oil temp . . . no idea for pressure).
Then, I need to get the sender bushing kit -- no problem there.
Lastly, I think I have to figure out what type of adapter(s), if any,
are required as well as the proper Ohm range for each gauge. Oil temp
and pressure list two ranges: VDO Ohm range and U.S. Ohm range.
Anyone have any ideas that can help me out? I'll worry about
installation later . . . that's a whole other story. :)
