Aw come now, you were right behind me the other day and your exhaust was
louder inside *my* car than my own (at least when you were heavy into
the throttle and the revs were up).

That I believe. It really does sound good (to me). It sorta reminds me
of a 1-liter, 4 cylinder bike with a (well-muffled) 4-into-1 exhaust.
But when you hit 6000 rpm, it sounds like a bike doing 9000 (which they
often do).

Well, as Mark Radelow pointed out, there *is* a slight resonance briefly as
you pass 2500 rpms, but other than that I kid you not about interior volume.
My modified intake with cone filter is much more noticable from the inside.
You can detect a different *tone* to the exhuast, and interior volume may be
very slightly louder than stock, but as the revs climb it actually gets
quieter! Probably has to do with certain frequencies getting cancelled by the
engine noise, or being lost in the unibody or interior sound deadening. It
always surprises me how "loud" the TT VR6 exhaust is from the outside
(intoxicating, if you ask me), while being hardly louder than stock inside. I
enjoy cruising with the windows down. You should take my car for a spin
someday.
Ok, so saying that it was "as quiet as stock inside" was a bit of an
exaggeration (sorry), but it really is much, much quieter than you would
expect. Exhaust noise has always been a concern of mine since living with an
89 GTI with a first generation Walker system. That thing sounded awesome
revving it out, but made you fatigued on a longer trip. It got tiring real
quick. When I installed my first TT VR6 exhaust, I was excited by its sound
performance.
