You guys should ride in a car with an auto tech exhaust before you
decide to buy.I have the autotech on my gti vr6 and anyone will thell
you about the resonance in the car its very annoying from the outside it
sounds sweet as pie but it does get annoying, I also have a girlfriend
that loves to complain so it makes it that much worse. I am going to get
a dofferent exhaust as soon as I get my turbo system for eip. I have
driven cars withthe Techtonics system and there in no resonance and it
sounds great, Im going for the techtonics or a genie wth abt dtm tips. I
know the abt lights suck but you have to agree the stuff looks nice.

Performance-wise, I think all that can be expected is to gain about 6hp
max. This is the difference in HP btw the Corrado and VR6, and is
largely due to the exhaust on the cars being different.

I don;t know about the headers being different on the cars- anyone
know?

I run the REMUS carbon-fiber unit right now. The sound is really nice,
and with the REMUS suitcase on there, it sounds nice and quiet from the
inside, and outside, you definitely hear an exhaust, though it's by no
means obnoxious.

Power-wise, I don't know- it came installed on the car! IMO, this
volume level is PERFECT for a daily commuter. It doesn;t 'get to you'
like the exhaust on my mustang did. I could swear I could still hear
that 5.0L rumble 2 hours after driving. That was a gut-shaking
"brrrrr", though not loud either- just at the 'right' resonance to make
you feel weird. The REMUS sound is much more pleasant.

For the record, the TT VR6 exhaust is as quiet as stock inside. I've
installed about 15 of them and not a single complaint.

Aw come now, you were right behind me the other day and your exhaust was
louder inside *my* car than my own (at least when you were heavy into
the throttle and the revs were up).

 > I've installed about 15 of them and not a single complaint.

That I believe. It really does sound good (to me). It sorta reminds me
 of a 1-liter, 4 cylinder bike with a (well-muffled) 4-into-1 exhaust.
But when you hit 6000 rpm, it sounds like a bike doing 9000 (which they
 often do).

 Best,

  >>

Well, as Mark Radelow pointed out, there *is* a slight resonance briefly as
you pass 2500 rpms, but other than that I kid you not about interior volume.
My modified intake with cone filter is much more noticable from the inside.
You can detect a different *tone* to the exhuast, and interior volume may be
very slightly louder than stock, but as the revs climb it actually gets
quieter! Probably has to do with certain frequencies getting cancelled by the
engine noise, or being lost in the unibody or interior sound deadening. It
always surprises me how "loud" the TT VR6 exhaust is from the outside
(intoxicating, if you ask me), while being hardly louder than stock inside. I
enjoy cruising with the windows down. You should take my car for a spin
someday.
Ok, so saying that it was "as quiet as stock inside" was a bit of an
exaggeration (sorry), but it really is much, much quieter than you would
expect. Exhaust noise has always been a concern of mine since living with an
89 GTI with a first generation Walker system. That thing sounded awesome
revving it out, but made you fatigued on a longer trip. It got tiring real
quick. When I installed my first TT VR6 exhaust, I was excited by its sound
performance.

Has anyone tried the new dimension revised borla vr6 system?
<<

Revised? Hmmm. I do have the Borla cat back system. I like it a lot. IMO,
it sounds really good, but not loud enough to make long trips annoying. At
3200-4000 rpm's (around 80-90 mph), I can't even tell its there. But the
exhaust does tend to set off a lot of sensitive alarms in underground
parking garages (quite a lot of fun).

Cost was $600 and change, and worth every penny. The tips don't scream,
look ma, I have a DTM tip. Very subtle, almost looks stock.

Autotech's T304 Stainless now comes with a striaght pipe with a straight
through resonater in place of the existing resonator. Plus a really cool
polished aluminim 3.5 inch tip. Awesome looks and sound!

There's some guy around here whos setup is a straight pipe in place
of the muffler. He's got the suitcase on, its not that loud, but it
definatley sounds better...exactly like stock, a little raspy-er
a littel louder.

Kevin,

Same problem here. The first couple of weeks or so my exhaust was driving
me nuts (ND Borla twin). The droning comes on early and I would actually
leave the car in gear so I wouldn't have to drive with it less than 3K.
Now it is not so much of a problem. The droning is not bothersome...It
has either become reasonably quiet (not likely), I have gotten used to it
(maybe), or I am going deaf from the sound (possibly). Anyway, the moral
of the story is: after awhile it won't be so bad so give it another couple
of weeks.
