Hi Everyone,
I'm re-subscribing after being gone for a few months and since then some
problems have come up.
While driving home tonight I noticed a loss of power and the engine
started running rough. I just replaced the wires last week so I'm
thinking maybe I didn't put one back on all the way. I pop the hood and
it looks like the 4th of July. Damn coilpack. Fortunately it looks
like only one cylinder is bad, so I'll probably try the epoxy trick
before I cough it up for a brand new coilpack.
Anyways, then I notice a pool of coolant (actually a ton of it) just
below the reservoir. It's caked on and it looks like it's leaking from
a hose on the "northeast" corner of the engine just below the wiring
harness. Nothing appears to be leaking from the tank. Doing some
research, it sounds like the Aux. Water Pump. Am I right? In the past
week or so my engine has been running much COOLER than normal, which
seems to be the opposite of what I would think would be happening since
the coolant is not being circulated as well. Water temp is right around
160 and oil around 175. I haven't heard any of the strange noises
people are describing. I bought a new thermostat from Potterman before
tonight because I thought that might be the problem.
So what do you guys think? Am I replacing the Aux Water Pump too or
will replacing the thermostat solve this leak?
It's nice to be back. Too bad it's under such crappy circumstances.
Thanks in advance!
