sorry if this has already been covered, but i'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy a vag-com on eBay
(see link below), or if it's best to buy directly from ross-tech.  obviously the eBay price is much better
-- wondering if you get what you pay for in this case.

also, the eBay version requires software version 311.2 or earlier -- is there a huge benefit to getting
the later software release?

I got the reader off ebay for 40 and download the shareware from rosstech. You can get the codes this way
and clear it, but it's limited to telling you what's actually wrong. That's when the bentley comes in
handle to source for fault code. No bentley no probelm it@ls also free online.

v311.2 is an old version.  The most current version is much better... more features, etc.  You're better
off buying from Ross-Tech, IMHO.  You'll get a new cable that will work with all the new versions.  In the
end, you still have to pay $200 for the software, so just buy it direct from the source.  The shareware
version works, but its functionality is very limited.
