My friend Abe, had the 268s/Shcrick/Techtonics system and with the
size of the resinator underneath the center of the car it was VERY loud
and buzzy 1800-2500 RPM range in any gear. The kind of buzz that makes
your
brain vibrate inside your skull and gives you an instant migrain
headache
in 10 minutes or less. I personally hate the Techtonics system for this
reason. This is just my opinion, no flames please.>>

I can't argue with personal opinion. I can say that not one of the 30 or so
of our customers who have bought the Techtonics VR6 system has been
disappointed.
My opinion is that no other VR6 exhaust I've heard or installed sounds so
sweet while being so civilized in volume.

Hey folks,

[...] 38 lines deleted

Bought and installed a TT exhaust from Jim Chu. I still find it
too loud in the 2000-2800 RPM range, so I called up TT and
they sent me a restrictor recommended by Borla. Didn't do
squat, so I'm now in the marketplace for a resonating tip.

Later,

Jud.

Another junping on the Techtonics is too loud between 2-3 thousand
bandwagon. I keep trying to get the word out, but some of us must have more
cranial insulation than others. It just rocked my head and would SUCK on long
trips. I don't know how they can sell these suckers. To those that love the
system I am happy for ya, but you must have loud ass stereos or major
insulation( wax buildup).

It seems like we keep yapping back and forth on this subject. I just
installed the system in my 97 DE, and I don't think it is too loud at all.
You might say that it is personal preference. As far as it being too loud
between 2-3k, there is a droning sound but it is not too loud at all, I
mean when you install a system made up of the components that are sold with
it, you have to expect some sound difference. I think it is more a
difference than anything. Buy what you like and what is comfortable to
you. Remember Tectonics quality and Service is unsurpassed.

Listers,

Like all other mods, it's a matter of personal choice and taste. I
have the TechTonics and LOVE IT! Great growl in the exhaust note and
no power loss above 4k rpms. I personally am not bothered by any
interior noise. The only time I notice interior noise is when I have
somebody in my car who brings it to my attention. It's really not
that bad at all. Or maybe it's the 400 watt Rockford Fosgate/Alpine
 system in the vehicle . . .

Long story short, mods are a matter of personal choice. If you don't
like it, don't buy it. And don't knock it either.

Regards,
Manny

Subject: [gti-vr6] TechTonics 2.5" Exhaust
Date: Thu, 10 Dec 1998 20:05:18 -0500 (EST)

I got the Techonics 2.5" stainless catback exhaust. They offer it with
two, one, or no resonators. I opted for one resonator.

It comes with a piece of 2.5" brushed stainless pipe for a tip, not a
whole lot unlike the tips on Mustang GT's as far as looks goes. No shiny
polished tip, no ovals, no rectangles, and no carbon fiber, and no DTM.
It's all business.

Anyways, it's been on the car for a day or three now. I like it. I like
it alot. It's not quiet. It is louder than stock minus the suitcase. It
is DEEP. You boys that whine about sqeaks and rattles need not apply,
though, cause like I said, it ain't quiet. It makes the car sound really
happy...like it's having an orgasm or something. It's really pleasing to
my ears.

The car revs much freer now on top. There's more power on top for sure.
How much? Who knows... The exhaust stretched out the rpm at which the
motor falls on its face by ~200-300rpm. I notice no loss in torque, but
then again I didn't notice the minute losses on the bottom from the P-Flo
and cutting out the suitcase.

In short, if you're lookin' mainly for sound, go TT.
If you're lookin' mainly for more top-end, go TT.
If you're lookin' mainly for looks, go away, you damn rice boy.
