Ok, I was in on the group purchase of the TT exhaust last Nov. I installed
the system and like it very much. It has be making noise for over a month
now and I'm sick if laying on the floor and wrestling with it. Can anyone
advise how they did their install or how I can fix my noise problem? It
appears to be tapping the heat shield and or the unibody ties just under the
back seat. Oh, I replaced the rear rubber hangers the other day. It helped
but didn't stop it.

sorry to hear about the trouble with the TT exhaust. that makes it 5 for 5
now. almost everyone i know has had some kind of problem with their TT
exhaust. noise, poor fitment, hangers cracking at the welds, (who ever
heard of combining an exhaust clamp with a hanger?). glad i went the
another route and bought an Autotech. i dont know if you guys have any
experience with their exhausts, but i love mine. i've had a walker dynomax
muffler on every vehicle i've owned, from stangs, to trucks, to my good ole
79 monte carlo and i love the way they sound. food for thought to you
listers debating on what exhaust to buy.

peace,

Hz

I have had Zero (0) issues with my TT exhaust, took less than an hour to in=
stall, and have had no problems at all with it. Sound and performance are =
great. what 5 for 5 are you talking about? I believe more than 5 listers =
have the TT exhaust..

Mike,

A half inch of clearance isn't much, the engine and exhaust _moves_ when
you accelerate, drive what have you. It's only a couple bolts remove the
bar, and try it out. If that isn't your problem then let's look elsewhere.

A proper exhaust/muffler shouldn't need resonator tips etc. That to my mind
is a band-aid on severed artery. That is why your exhaust didn't come with
one. And a venturi? choke of the exhaust? The reason you bought the exhaust
in the first place is for freer breathing.

I'd say at least lay down and watch the exhaust while someone revs the
engine and watch the exhaust bang the support bar. Shant is right, even with
cut bolts, with a full load in the Vento, the exhaust will knock that
support bar. I may just remove it also.

Good luck,

Bob

Okay, I got my new 2.5" stainless steel TT exhaust with 2 resonators and a
resonated tip installed today.

I now have the dreaded cabin resonance that "some" GTI VR6s get with the TT
system. I was expecting a slight to moderate increase in exhaust note
volume, but this is in the "overbearing" range of loud.

Below 1500rpms and above 3500rpms it's just fine. Unfortunately, most of my
driving does not fall into either range. (Not for very long, anyway...)

Is there anything I can do to remedy this, or should I just sell the TT and
buy a SuperSprint?

Thanks,

I had the same problem. There is a small bar at the back of the exhaust
tunnel (in front of the rear axle) that your exhaust is sitting on and
vibrating (sounds like Wally's wife...ha!). The cross bar is only there to
hold up the stock exhaust. I tried shaving down the exhaust bolts but it
still hit the bar. I removed the bar and the problem was gone (actually a
30 foot patch of 1 foot tall slush and ice removed the bar for me last
winter, once the stock exhaust isn't there anymore, the 2 small bolts
holding onto the bar aren't all that much to keep it in place).

Okay, I just checked. I saw the bar you're referring to, but it's not
contacting the exhaust. I'd say there's about 1/2" of clearance there. I
checked out the rest of the fitment, and didn't see any contact points.

Any other thoughts? Try a different resonated tip? Add a venturi prior to
the resonated tip?

Man, this sux. From 2k-3k under load it's buzzy resonance. Everywhere else
it's pure bliss. Ack!

Its Not the bar, been there done that, Its the TT exhaust its just like
that.Live with it or get rid of it. After two years with it I tried
everything and nothing work until my wife told me she was not getting in
my car ever again since my car gave her a headache everytime we took my
car to go somewhere. The next week I installed a Brospeed and she
approved it. Sorry to say but the truth is that TT exhaust are LOUD and
there is no way to fix or quiet them.
