I have the newer style of the Genie exhaust. The old style has a pre
muffler and a final muffler. The new style has a resonator and the final
muffler.
It's 2 1/4 in diameter. The build quality is exllent, all SS. It's all
straight through design, mandrel bent pipes. The old style is very quiet
and they changed it to the latest style for more of an exhaust note, which
is more on the civilized side. As of power, it's hard to detect 3-5 hp.
Many of the exhaust system has a big resonance between 2000-3200 rpms. It
just booms in the car. The Techtonic sounds excellent. But for daily
driving, it's wayyy too loud. You just attract too much attention when
you get on the car. I had the Techtonics system from my Jetta GLX, to GTI
and sold it to a buddy. Then I purchased the Genie.
I wish the Genie had a 2 1/2" pipe diameter, like the Techtonics. I'm
always hoping someone will cater to a more adult crowd on the exhaust end.
Have one that booms and one that doesn't. The Genie ain't cheap either...
