Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Been very busy and just got down
reading and deleting over 1000 messages. I had to attend an Audi
pyrotechnic training class. Very informative. Yes I learned how to disable
an air bag on the new A6, but couldn't dig up any info on the VW;s.
Interesting topic that was discussed at the class. The training classes
are usually held with 12 techs from VW/Audi dealers in a 250 mile range
from Cranbury NJ. Everyone discusses different problem cars and the
fixes. We all agree that the New Beetle is a unservicable piece of crap,
and the Passat is no Audi. This car cannot hold a candle to the A4. The
only thing going for it is the cost. Passat owners always rub it in your
face that their car is over $10,000 cheaper than it's cousin. I remind them
that it's still a VW. An over priced one to say the least.
Reason for this post. First some dealers have had GTI's with sudden air bag
deployment while driving. The cars involved have had major suspension
lowering and larger tires. If the circumstances are right and the car
should bottom out POW. This is not a warranty matter.
Second. We have had some problems with the G12. This red shit seeps past
the self tightening hose clamps. I have seen it on both Audi and VW cars.
The only fix has been to replace the hose and clamp.
