Every one keeps asking what the story with the AMS kitlet me fill you in
on what I know! When I was putting the parts together for the yellow
96 VR6 project my plan was for a 3.3 ottinger motor that Ron of Ron`s
part`s said was in the works and for the supercharger kit. As most of
you know that idea never happened Ron lied about the motor was never and
is never going to happen as far as any one knows. The supercharger I
was going to get from Aron at APS about 16 months ago Aron let me in on
A secret project he and one of the guys from vortec where working on. He
told me theguy from vortec had been selling alot of blowers to some
company over sea`s it turn`s out I think to be Z-eng in Switzerland.
They asked if this guy from vortec could put them in contact with A
good company to work out the bug`s on an American kit (i.e.) obd1&obd2
and help us market the kit in the U.S. this guy told them sure I`ll hook
you with the guy`s at APS, send us A kit so we can get started right
away. He told them to send the kit to him at vortec and he would get it
to Aron ASAP. Well when the kit arrived this guy walk`s into his boss`
office and quit`s on the spot but guess what instead of taking this kit
to APS he fly`s right over to mark at AMS and say`s look what I have now
do I get A job! I`ve seen that someone else told everyone that vortec
won`t sell them any blowers now you might know the reason?

That is the most far-fetched story I have ever heard. The plain and simple
truth:

Z-engineering was looking for a comany who can debug the kit for US cars.
AMS was searching for a proper supercharger to produce a kit for the VR6
application. As AMS called all the different supercharger companies looking
for the right blower, they obviously bumped into Mark Scott @ Vortech. Mark
seemed very interested in the fact that AMS was looking to develop a SC kit
for the VR6. Mark Scott rushed over to AMS the following day and checked out
what Marc @ AMS was up to. Mark Scott immediately felt that Marc @ AMS had
more tuning capabilities than Aaron at APS. AMS wanted to show the kit at
SEMA and Vortech wanted a new kit at SEMA therefore opted to have AMS help
develop the kit. APS would not have been able to produce the kit so quickly
to show it in Vegas. Soon enough the kit arrived to Mark Scott and
obciously was brought over to AMS. The kit did not fit properly and there
were some associated problems. Marc @ AMS worked round the clock to adapt
the kit to his VR6 and show the kit at the SEMA show. Mark Scott resigned
from Vortech because of his differences with the management. Mark Scott's
decision to leave had nothing to do with AMS nor the supercharger kit. Mark
Scott did not get a job nor receive ANY sort of compensation from AMS. The
kit from AMS has been completely redesigned and includes some different
parts, one being a 7-ribbed belt (It does fit and is most definitely the
correct belt). The air conditioning is retained and the SC VR6 is a beast.
Yes, I have ridden in it. AMS is a Vortech dealer and can buy as many
Vortech Superchargers as they wish.

Eurotech for one reason or another is sore about the subject. I do not think
lies based on non-factual information is good business conduct. WHY DOESN'T
SOMEONE ON THE LIST ASK EUROTECH ABOUT THE STOLEN MERCHANDISE IN HIS GARAGE.
NAMELY THE MANY VR6 MOTORS HE HAS.

OOOOOPS! Sorry to spill the beans.

My friend already got his supercharger, so if you want one call them.Delivery
has begun. I dont know why other than AMS said they were busy with Audi projects
and they were also perfecting the SC kit. Can we blame them for that? or woud
you rather buy a half-ass kit?

What, and wait 3 months for it? I think I'll wait until I start hearing good
things about it before I put down my hard earned cash thank you! And yes, I
have called them to ask about the availability of the supercharger. Twice
I've left a message on the answering machine and I never got a response
back. Nice customer service!
Here is a letter that was just posted today on the Passat list.

As I think everyone knows I ordered my SC kit from AMS end of Nov. It
was promised by early Dec and was finally delivered 2 weeks ago - not
for my car but for the other guy waiting with a Gti. i think I had
posted that it was problems with the OBDI cars and were having major
trouble with engine problems. They had a car transferred to OBD II and
supposedly was working fine. The GTi that the kit was put on is running
and is supposed to be awesome. I had a brief drive in it but didn't get
past 3rd gear in the rain due to the driver skipping the tires and a
hose? coming lose. I didn't get to see the kit when it came but
supposedly it looking like a prototype. Haven't heard much since then
though although I hope to go for another ride. I did hear that it just
kills the 3.1L 92 Gti though...
I have been talking to Z Engineering in Switzerland who makes the
kits also. Supposedly from what they heard is that AMS is not delivering
any kits now and Vortech has stopped providing them due to them being
unprofessional. From what I've heard that doesn't surprise me. I don't
have any proof of any of this and have never talked to AMS directly
beside through my mechanic but I just thought I'd post in case anyone
had considered tha kit like I did.I will post more if I hear anything
else...
