I smoked mine this morning. It's really easy (works the same as the front
reflector/turn signal assembly)- just take a flat blade screwdriver and pry from
the thin side of each marker(the angle cut, not the square cut). If you hear/feel
plastic crunching then you're prying the reflector from it's backing- stick the
screwdriver at more of an angle to get behind the backing and pry from there.
They do require a little force to pop off so don't be afraid to use a little
muscle!

There is something in the library about this I am sure but here is how I do
it.
Jack up the car and reach up under where the light is and push the tab on the
end of it towards the light. This will release it. It is harder to do it this
way and some guys just use a small screwdriver from the outside but you risk
scratching the paint somewhat. YMMV

what was all that for.......to take off your side markers? easiest way is to
take a few clips and screws that hold the wheel well covers and squeeze your
hand in there to push the clip that locks the markers. that easy. no need
to take out the airbox!
and no breakage.

i put mine in turning the wheels so they point inward, front of wheel
towards engine, and either unscrew or pop of the two or three bolts that
hold the fender wall flap thing on, then from there just pop out the lights
by the tab, easy as that, takes 10 minutes or less

The side markers are tricky. They are clipped in place. The clip is on the
side closest to the wheel, away from the bumper. If you've ever taken your
front turn signal out, it's the same basic clip design, just smaller. Use a
small flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the side marker off, prying from
the clip-side. Use a cloth b/t the screwdriver and the paint so you don't
scratch it. I managed to break one of the clips, even while being extra
careful. Another option is to remove the splashguard, come in from below,
and pop it out from behind. A little more labor intensive, but it might save
you a broken clip. They go in a LOT easier. Be careful not to touch the
bulbs :)
FWIW, I had the smoked markers for a while, but decided I didn't like the
look on a black car. But to each his own.

Chris,

You don't have to remove the fender liners or wheels... just pop out the
bottom part nearest the side marker and stick your hand in there. You
should be able to get your fingers on the clip that holds the side
marker in. push on the clip and it should pop right out.

Feeler Gauges rock! When I was prying with a screwdriver it looks like I bent the tabs out a bit so it
made things a little tougher. I popped in one of my feeler gauges (flat type, kinda slim jimish) and slid
it behind the clips and pushed down. They popped right out and for once I didn't break anything! Really
subtle change but I like the new ones alot. Probably do the Fogs next, anyone have any luck just 'smoking'
the existing ones by painting the insides?
