well since i started everyone off with this topic i will now1
tell everyone who gives a rats a.s that i have finished a pair of
the turn signals. they are completely non orange..and are back in the
car without a hitch..as a matter of fact i am in the process of doing
them for my friends black jetta..and for a blue vr6 gti..i will be
tinting the inside of those with a real light coat of blue tinting
spray from a hobby shop...
i have completely dissasembled the turn signal.
i did this using a heat gun and a really sharp x-acto knife..
then while hot i separated the lense from the housing...
then i used the x-acto to make sure it was a clean split...
i then used the heat gun to heat the orange plastic reflector..
then prying, and bending and pulling it came off in pieces, but
cleanly..
then i used an industrial strength cleaner on the back of where the
orange USED to be. then the entire assembly...
the front cover, and back housing i put back together, after thoroughly
cleaning with a 3M plastic lens compund..then with a bit of rubbing
alcohol and water solution..to make sure area was oil free..
then with a clear crazy glue i put the two pieces together...
then once that was dry i sanded down any potruding pieces and burrs
from dissasembly...
then i used a marine type fuel resistant long cure epoxy around the
outside of the entire housing..after 24 hours of cure time it was
cured clear, i sanded it all down to be smooth...
i used a regular bulb for now, inside of the light housing...
these things look SMOOTH....real clean job, really time consuming..
but it'll set me apart from other VW's...

since there seem to be a lot of people wanting to do this
i have given such thorough directions as to how i did it..
this will give an excellent finish..and is recomended for anyone
who wants an air tight seal and the clear look..
actually..if anyone has any questions or wants this done for them
i will offer my services...but honestly..it sounds a lot harder
than it is so try it out......
