Sorta.

It sounds like you're using the front running lights rather than the side.

When I wired in my city lights, I tapped into the hot wire on the driver
side, side marker light. Easy..

When I got around to the passenger side I couldn't reach the side marker
light from the inside (maybe there's some trick to this I don't know)
so I went to the front running light. It has 3 leads. One of them
is the running light hot.. the middle is ground and the 3rd is the
turn signal hot. You need to test to find out which is which.

I pulled the plug from the back of the running lights, turned the lights
on and then tested with a multimeter to find the running light hot.
Tap into that wire, and you're set.

Finally did the blinking side marker mod...don't know why I waited so
long...just wanted to put in my $0.02...found it really easy to do the mod
from underneath- just pull the splash guards, undo the bulbs, snip,
jump...if anybody's wondering, I was underneath the car already, replacing
one of the splash guards...

Bob,
I did the side marker mod as per your web page. Very professional, I was
impressed. Anybody doing this mod MUST refer to your page. My '98 was
just the way you said it would be. Of course I have some comments on my
experience:
1. I did mine from underneath. I drove onto my home-made ramps and slid a
rug under for comfort. Access was pretty easy for driver's side and pretty
tricky for passenger side.(more later) It is necessary to remove the
plastic dirt shield from under the bumper - cake - two 6mm bolts and two
screws.
2. I removed the black tape from the two wires which go to the marker all
the way back to the merge with the other wires. Next, (on the turn signal
harness)I removed about 1.5" of black tape just past this same merge. This
allowed me to cut the black w/stripe and green w/stripe left/right
respectively. Apply connector as per your directions. Apply electrical
tape to all to attempt that stock look. Oh, the "brown" is like "tan". No
big deal 'cause the other colors are grey non-brown.
3. As I said the driver's side was pretty easy. The pass. side was
different, but not bad once I figured it out. I removed the reflector then
the turn signal. Disconnect the horn and marker and pull the whole shebang
out thru the turn signal opening. Now you can work like a gentleman.
3a. There is plastic "friction connector" which holds the wire harness to
the frame of the car. This must be removed. A finger on each side and
rock back and forth works best. Patients is required! This is VERY close
quarters. Later it will push back into place.
3b. I was not able to remove the connector from the marker light on the
pass side. It was too tight and not enough space. Quite by accident, I
wound up removing the entire connector with bulb intact. This worked just
as well. Again, patients is required!

Ok, all done and works fine. It did take me 1.5hrs. I guess it's me but
15min sounds impossible.
Thanks Bob,
TomV
