There's an alternative to the Euro Headlight switch, for those of you
interested. The 94 Golf LE's had head and fog lights just like the GTI's,
but without DRL's. What you can do is order that headlight switch and
install it in place of the current one. It accomplishes the same thing, but
doesn't offer a couple of functions of the Euro switch.
First the Euro switch has the capability of running a rear fog. The GTI's
are not wired to accept this, so it is a useless feature unless you wire the
rear fog yourself. Second, the Euro switch allows you to run your fogs with
just the parking light on. The Golf LE switch requires the headlights to be
on. At first I thought that was a big deal, but if you've ever seen a
GTI/GLX with it's fogs and parking lights on (only), it's not that cool
looking. The yellow turn signals are really ugly.
An advantage of the Golf LE switch is that it should cost less. I think
someone reported it only costing $50 or something. With a group purchase or
something like that, I'm sure the price could even be less. Another
advantage is that its a US part, and it doesn't have to tracked down from
overseas.

Just providing an alternative,
Jeff

Called a few local VW dealers last night only to find that I am dealing
with a bunch of baboons, they said they never heard of the Euro
headlight switch, couldn't get it and if they could...it wouldn't work.
Yes, I gave them the part numbers but NO that didn't seem to work
either. Anyone have the name and number of a QUALITY dealership/speed
shop that understands how much we enjoy modifying our cars. Also, read
a post about a group purchase (switch, jumper and bridge) will there be
another soon?
Last, any ideas on where to pick up a Bentley for cheap, or do I just
have to deal with the $130 tag...

thanks,

Eric

Yes, it's been done to death.
Pull 110 and replace with jumpers to allow fogs and highs to be on all
at the same time. Nothing to do with DRLs.

Pull 173 to kill DRL headlights.
Find someone to sell you a stock 96-98 headlight switch to lose the
parking lights and dash lights for your '95. That's a lot cheaper than a
Euroswitch.

Someone else claimed that they cut a connector on the back of the
'95 Stock switch that fixed the parking light problem too, but
someone else said that only did it for one side of the car, and the
first person never confirmed one way or the other.

Easier just to get a 96+ switch from someone who's bought a Euroswitch.
