Schroth claims that its harnesses are the only that meet National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration regulations, so yes, they are street legal.

I installed a Rallye 4 in my car about a month ago. I use it exclusively for
autocrossing. It definitely holds you in the seat much better than the stock
belts. However, it is so uncomfortable, no to mention inconvenient, when you
have yourself strapped in tightly, that it is not much good for normal
driving. This is my opinion. Others may disagree. But the harness basically
immobilizes you in the seat. You can't even reach the driver's side door to
close it if it's open fully.

Installation was pretty straightforward, as long as you follow the
instructions closely. Just make sure you pass the shoulder belts BETWEEN the
posts on the headrest.
