Get out your grinder is more like it. There is a support piece that
interferes with the travel. On each adapter base you'll need to take a
notch out of that support piece (otherwise it hits the top of the outer
seat track) to allow full fore to aft travel. In reality it should be a
bolt in job, but apparently there is a slight difference between Mexico and
German built Golfs. There is a small possibility that my adpaters were out
of tolerance, but since both had the same problem, my guess is that it's
the design and not manufacturing problems.
It's not that big a deal, just be prepared for a little work. Slide the
adapter rail into the track (without the seat mounted) and you'll
immediately see the problem.
