Rapid Parts (http://www.rapidparts.com) can have a set custom-made in any
color carpet and logo thread that you want. I did the GTI VR6 rear logo
artwork, and they had a set of mats made for me. They still have the
die, and could punch out a set for under $90 the last time that I
checked. They've been in the car for two years now, and are holding up
pretty well.....

In a message dated 97-11-12 04:02:02 EST, you write:

<< Yup, they do exist. At least they did about a year ago when I got mine.
However, the GTI logo is the A2 one, not the A3 logo. I'm not one to split
hairs about it, and am rather happy with just having mats that have ANY GTI
logo on 'em. I have no idea why any dealership would say that they don't
exist, unless these mats have been discontinued w/in the past year, and they
began working for VW afterwards. Otherwise, I got the reciepts in the
glovebox (about $50 bucks or so) :-) >>

I ordered my mats in February from Timmons VW and they are black with a red
A3-style GTI logo. As I recall, they are not a "VW" part, but are made by a
company called Lloyds. If anyone is interested, send me a message and I'll
try to find the receipt and see if there is a part #.

I git my GTi floor mats last night at my dealer, it turns out after all that
they did have the mats( when they bothered to look!!!), I have an appointment
on monday to drop my car off to see if they can get rid of those annoying
rattles around the seat belt area. I will keep yawl posted on the outcome.

Doh! I _just_ threw out my receipt for my new GTI floor mats. They are
black with 'GTI' embroidered in red. They are fairly cheaply made with
only a foam backing, but they fit perfectly and look cool. I ordered
mine off VW's website accessory store, but I found out that they only
forward the order to a dealer. So go to the website, get the part #,
call your dealer, and have him order them. Set of 4 ~$60!

Rapid Parts has them too, but with the GTI VR6 logo straight off the
back of the car. Your choice of colors on both the carpeting and
logo thread. Mine have been holding up extremely well, and I showed
them to a few people at Wsterfest. Of course, I'm a little biased
because I did the artwork, but they are an option.....

That sounds a lot like what I have. As stated in the link Andy posted, I
ordered some Lloyds mats from Timmons VW many moons ago. Mine are a dense
black carpet with a red Mk 3-style "GTI" embroidered on them. Very nice
mats - in 4 years the only one showing *any* wear is the driver's side
(surprise) and the "wear" is really just spots that are slightly compressed
and a little shiny from my heels. That price sounds right - about $75 for
four, IIRC.

I ordered my Lloyd mats from GPR at www.gprparts.com. They were $50-60 for
the fronts with the rubber back, stitched seams and VR6 written on them in
serious block letters and with the heel pad on the drivers side. The rears
were another $20-30 bucks. They had a tall carpet pile and a short carpet
pile. I went with the tall. They feel goooood! There are a bunch of
options, logos, and colors.

Also I have two sets MK3 rubber all weather mats new in the box. They fit
adequately. I ordered 4 sets for me my girl and two friends. The frineds
haven't picked them up all winter and now they don't want to pick them up
'cause its spring. Fronts only, 2 sets, $30 each set, COD check or cash UPS
ground. Send me a note offline if you want a set.

Thx...Al
