I've done this... It sucks! First, move both front seats forward all the way.
Pop the little covers off the sides of the console. There about an 1 inch in
dia. They pop out really easy with a flat head screwdriver. Under these are, one
on each side, phillips head screws. They are very long, over 1.5 inchs. Now
notice you can move around the whole center console... Next put one of the front
seats back and sit in it. Take a flat head screw driver and pop out the little
plastic ring that goes around the brake release button, and holds the leather.
Now, take the whole console and pull over the hand brake, I had to force mine,
cause the leather gets turned inside out. Also remember to unplug the hatch
release button. If all goes well, you will how have a center console with boot,
two screws, and two caps... There is a piece of plastic under the leather and
what looks to be stuck on the metal for the hand brake. This gives it its shape.
I coulden't find a way to remove it without braking it. To seperate the boot
from the console, get a long flat head screw driver, and push on the little tabs
around the inside of the console, where they meet. There is a plastic ring that
goes around the inside, bottom edge of the boot. This ring snaps in to the
console. Not sure how to remove the button... Reinstallation might be alittle
interesting, cause you have to pull the leater back over plastic thingy. I
replaced mine with a boot I made by cutting the top off the black leather and
sewing on the green leather from a Euro-spec Colour Concept.
