For those who have had the 'creaking' noise near the door stryker, could you
please mail me in detail where the weak link is. I am going to attempt to
repair it myself, i've pulled apart the passenger front and rear door panels
to find the 'creaking' but have yet to ever find it. So for anyone who has
had it done, could they explain to me exactly what needs to be welded and
where to look within the car for it.
 TIA,
 Mike

Hmm...Bra-tha, did u say weld?....I had the creaking noise, the fix is very
cheap and simple....Just get some of that white/yellow grease and slap some on
the striker plate and get some some grease under the little plastic/rubber
thingee that wraps around the metal striker plate....'
Go, and do that, and get back to me!

It might not be bad welds. On my car, the crazy noise coming from the
striker plate area was the black plastic bushing that the latch hooked to.
Over time it got beat out of shape and started rattling. I drilled a
couple of 1/8 inch holes and puched some siliconl in there to keep them
from rattling. Steve.

Excuse my ignorance, but my car creaks too and I don't know what the stiker
plate is. Could you give my stupid ass some more details. Thanks!

U2???...Ok, the striker plate is what keeps your door shut when u drive down
the road!...Open your door and look at that thingee that Metal (bolted by 2
allen wrench bolts) and yellowish in color, and has a black bushing/rubber
wraped around it....That's the striker plate....The door shuts and holds on to
it.....
Well... U need to grease that thing...It dries out and makes creaks.

Hey, for all you guys that have this creaking sound, try this...

One of my buddies with a 92 Corrado has this same prob and he fixed it by
a simple strip of electrical tape wrapped around the bushing. That made
the door lock tighter and everything was fine afterwards. Nice and cheap.

Get some one sided teflon tape from the dealer, loosen the door panels and
place the teflon tape just under the leading edge of the panels. This is
what the dealer did to mine and it worked like a charm.

If the dealer refuses to either give you any or sell you any, use some
black cloth tape the same way. I silienced several trouble spots myself
this way.

Gummi Pfledge, a BMW product I believe. It works for rubber door
seals. Make sure that is the cause of the squeak.

I had a squeak coming from the interface of the plastic door trim and
the metal of the car door. I jammed some Frost King weather stripping
in there and have not had a squeak since. Works and looks great.

Rob, you'll need a T-40 torx bit to adjust the door latch/striker plate. Be
careful though, 'coz it's not too difficult to get it stripped! :o)
