I saw the film that Bob T. had on his headlights this past weekend and it
looked like a really good idea, especially for the fog lights. Someone at
Wallyfest 98(tm) had mentioned someone worked for 3M and might be able to
get a discount on it. I am interested in some as I am sure others are. I
found a place (Mesa Performance Parts (714)642-8824 or (800)221-6372) to get
it for $20 a sheet that is probably big enough for just the headlights.
Anyone else know of a better price?

OK, Since I had several people inquire, Here's the scoop; I am now
authorized to sell StonGard 3M protective films. This includes both
Headlight and Clear Auto Bra Kits. You can check out all the specs at
www.stongard.com. If you go to the applications section ("For what
cars") and enter VW GTI it will show you what parts of your car will be
covered with each kit.(Please note: the pieces that apperar in the
"headlight socket" on the Clear Auto Bra cut out pages are NOT the
headlight parts but rather the mirror back covering pieces. This will
make sense when you get to the web site. The headlight covering Film is
NOT included with the Auto Bra kits)

The cost for the Clear Auto Bra kits are as follows: Partial kit $198.00
and the full kit is $365.00 The headlight ,fog light and turn signal kit
is $60.00 . As a discount to List members I will pay the shipping on any
list member purchases. If anyone has any other questions feel free to
e-mail me.

Loren B.

Stongard is in Bellvue, Washington. This is where Microsoft is. It's a
small place about the size of a large garage and a one room office.
They are near to the BMW dealer and a place called park place which
sells Ferrari, Porsche, Jag, etc. second hand... Their phone number is:
425.646.0670 My stongard for the head and fog lights on my GTi VR6 were
59.96. Easy to put on and well worth the money. I think the guys name
is Ron. The full front bra system is something like $400.00.
Hope this helps Y'all out.
Later,
Clayton

There is another company called Invinca-Shield that makes clear chip guard
kits for most cars. There are several write-ups on the MR2 Spyder kit on the
http://www.spydermagazine.com/ articles page. They have even given
discounts for group buys and with enough people interested, a representative
might be able to help with group install.

[Oops, resending this to Spokes, I forgot to reply to all]

Hello All,

Over the past few weeks I've been thinking seriously towards getting the Invinca-Shield for my
car. In fact, earlier today I fired an email off to them, asking about local installers, and
whether there are any install parties nearby that I can crash. I'd especially love to have their
pro named Alan do my car.

Here is a list of companies that I know about (some only do light covers, some do only body
covers, and some do both):
    www.invinca-shield.com
    www.stonguard.com (expensive)
    www.armourfend.com
    www.xpel.com

Well i just ordered a kit for my wifes truck from www.invinca-shield.
Should have it in a couple of weeks. I have a call into my 3M rep
to see if he has the kits available also. I have done a little a
searching and it looks like you can buy the materal on a punched roll.
Meaning that if you had a vinal grafix machine you could cut your
own.(hint hint rich)

When i get it i will let everyone know how it goes on. I have done
some of these before so we shall see. I don't think it will be
that hard.

Eric
