I get no fan output on 1,2,3 settings but do on high. the A/C compressor runs on 1,2,3 but not high... checked the archive, and it seems that when the resistor pack dies, this is what happens. Further review of the convoluted mess of the A/C wiring in the "book" shows that this is true of a failure of this circuit. Where is this resistor pack located? do you access it from the interior of the car or under the hood? Anyone know? :) -Mike '98 lotsa-hot-air or very cold non-moving air edition From Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 09:54:51 -0400 From: Mike Pepe Cc: 'gti' Subject: Re: [gti-vr6] weird a/c failure mode Yes, I did find it. Popped it out and tested it, and the fuse had opened up. It looks like a thermal protection fuse to me. But, I didn't care, I soldered a jumper across it and reinstalled it just to make sure it works. It does. At least now I can hold off on replacing it and have working air conditioning in the meantime! Luke White wrote: > It's been a while since I fixed mine, but it's inside the car on the passenger side.
