Hi all,

With the high price of R-12 refrigerant these days, I heard
that there is a
product called "Freeze 12" that is supposedly cheaper and
compatible with
R-12 system. Does anybody know any place in Austin that might
use this??? Or
has anybody successfully used this???

I have used freeze-12 in my Mustang and it works pretty good, although it
was one can of freeze-12 added to the existing R-12.  I've noticed that air
conditioning guys seem willing to put freeze-12 in with the R-12, even
though I think the law requires all the R-12 to be evacuated and special
permanent freeze-12 fittings to be installed.

For those who might be interested, I was shocked to find that it is
apparently possible to get certified to purchase R-12/Freeze 12 online at
http://www.imaca.org/condition.htm

Haven't tried it, but for $20 it might be worth it to someone.

Don't know where to have it done though..

There were quite a wealth of info out there and turned out that Freeze 12 is
not the only subsititute. In any case, here are some sites I've found
